Nick: Barb Resides: London, ON, Canada Diagnosed: 1993 Age at diagnosis: 48 Diagnosis & Treatment: Diagnosed with breast cancer, ER+, stage 111 in April 1993. Had a modified radical mastectomy and 6 months chemo.Diagnosed last Sept. with metastatic breast cancer to subcutaneous nodes in neck and thoracic spine. On Tamoxifen which seems to be keeping the cancer in check. Have a lot of back pain and can only take extra strength Tylenol and an antidepressant to help with pain. Likes/Loves: Enjoy life and making new friends. Love grilled salmon and most foods. Dislikes/Hates: Can't think of anything I would say I dislike unless it's food. Dislikes include lobster and shrimp. Personal comments:The diagnosis was made after 3 normal mammograms and the fact that the tumour was palpable. Had a needle aspiration which was inconclusive...not enough tissue writhdrawn. Finally a lumpectomy was done for diagnosis. Surgeon removed one tumour but had cut into a second one; thus the mastectomy. Very intolerant to narcotic drugs...tried on morphine in Nov./02 and lost 8 pounds in 3 days. Very ill.
