Name: Elizabeth
Nick: Beth
Resides: Cleveland, Georgia, USA
Diagnosed: June 1998 & 2004
Age at diagnosis: 42, 53

Diagnosis & Treatment:
At age 42 (June 1998)I discovered, through self-exam, a lump in the outer left breast. The needle biopsy revealed cancer and lumpectomy was performed. (Mammo revealed nothing). 15 nodes removed and all negative. Full treatment of chemo and radiation followed. Now at age 53, by self exam, I discoved a large lump in lower right breast. Mammo and ultrasound revealed three masses in different areas of my breast(yes three masses). Radiology reported 2 as cysts and 3rd needed biopsy. I requested that all three be biopsied. Pathology report indicates that all three are poorly differentiated grade III infiltrating ductal carcinomas. Prognosis is 95% survival provided that sentinal node is clean. Otherwise, if negative, chemo will immediately proceed. Either way, I will proceed to have a double mascectomy and reconstruction. Best part is fat will be removed from my abdomen
Likes/Loves: I love my grown sons, who are very compassionate. I am in paradise when boating in Florida and the Bahamas. I enjoy sunsets and sunrises, beautiful fragrant flowers, listening to birds sing, reading, traveling, historic places, the ocean, and my backyard fish pond. More than anything I love and could not be without my significant other (soulmate) who loves me more than anyone or anything.

Dislikes/Hates: I dislike selfish, close minded, dishonest people, cold weather, waiting for outcomes of biopsies and tests, doctors who can't remember your name.

Personal comments: Since my first diagnosis, I have learned to take risks and walk through fear. After realizing my own mortality, I think that cancer forced me to grow and experience more of life and not take it for granted.
