Nick:
Resides: Poartage, IN, USA
Diagnosed: 1999
Age at diagnosis: 30

Diagnosis & Treatment:
I was originally dx in 1999 shortly after Jenna was born with stage 2, 3 pos nodes, er+. I was just 30 years old at the time. I had the usual... AC, taxol, rads, then tamoxifen.
Tamoxifen failed me miserably. I had pain walking in the fall of 2002 which turned out to be mets to the pelvis and spine. I had rads, zoladex, arimidex, and zometa. Tumor markers and PET scans have declared me to have no active cancer to date. I am so very grateful for that
In the spring of 2004, Zoladex was not as effective. I started menstrual cycles again. I had a complete hysterectomy including ovaries.

Likes/Loves:
I am a teacher and enjoy playing, watching, and coaching sports. I am originally from Chicago and still live near by in Northwest Indiana. I am a huge Cubs fan and love coaching my girls in softball. GO CUBBIES !!!

Dislikes/Hates:
CANCER!!! Lack of energy and mobility. I love sports and can no longer coach or play. This is difficult for me.

Personal comments:
I am married and have two children Mary and Jenna(. I often consider my husband Mark as my third child because he is such a clown. Mary now age 10 is a super athlete and that takes up most of our time. I don't think there is a sport she cannot play!
Jenna now age 6 is very intelligent. She started reading books in pre school and will be starting piano lessons soon.
I can no longer coach due to severe nerve damage and herniated disks (a side effect from zoladex). I am now the web site coordinator for my daughter's travel ball team and get to sit back and enjoy the games! Although I am less mobile and have pain, my cancer is still in remission
